Four Wheel Camper shell build

I took delivery of a 2019 Four Wheel Camper Hawk (shell model) with options; furnace, thermal pack, recessed stove top, vent fan, and aluminum frame roof rack.

Mainline Overland Bow, NH

This Hawk shell is installed on the Chevrolet Silverado which I bought new in December 2009. Over the last ten years I custom built an A.R.E. utility shell into a camper. It was an evolutionary process. I learned everything that I actually need about how to lay my new camper out. The Fourwheel Camper Hawk shell model is the perfect base for the next CAMP RIG.

I used some of the pieces that made the A.R.E. canopy a camper. Most importantly I used all the experience I gained overlanding across North America to build out this shell.

I used .75″ oak plywood to build a new longer countertop for the galley area. I moved the stove closer to the edge and installed recessed stowage space on the wall side of the counter. The furnace remained in its factory location. 12 volt power was re-routed and laid out to power up my specific needs. Storage was built for utensils and cookware.

The sink counter top completes the galley. A 40 liter water supply can be hand pumped to the sink. In addition a 12v on demand water pump supplies via hand shower head for use inside to the sink or outside for wash down duties. Water supply diverts via three way valve to control flow direction.

I coated the birch veneer and wall boards to a suitable color scheme that works for me. The wall panels were coated with marine grade carpet for added insulation. The kick boards and lower cabinets were coated with black truck bed spray liner and trunk grey splatter. All hardware is stainless steel or aluminum.

faux carpet and coating system replaced faux birch laminate.

What to do with the poo… The potty box uses a simple 3 gallon bucket and biodegradable bag for solids and a Nalgene bottle for liquids. The whole package seals up with a heavy lid closing on a gasket laminated box.
